The Beginning
On the shores of a distant land to the far East. There laid a rural village near the coast that could be easily passed over by even your most common of travelers. The inhabitants were Au’ra of Raen descendant mainly but various other races made their homes here, for it was quiet and peaceful. Challenges were plenty for sure, as the Garleans had claimed the land as theirs and expected tribute to be paid. The villagers bent their knee to their overlords and as such were mostly left to their own devices, or what was left of them. Merchants and adventurers were sparse but still would make port at the sole dilapidated pier in town from time to time, bringing various goods and stories to be shared around a fire. The village was small and humble, thus the same goes for the people who all were close knit and did what they could to support one another. Times were rough and without the support of one another, none would make it another cycle
The Dawn
The Urabe household welcomed their 2nd child, and named her Elysia, heavenly blissful child. Elysia spent much of her time growing up learning to survive on her own in the first and at sea. Fishing and hunting were necessities and her family made sure she was capable of doing both. Her eldest brother (TBD) and her became close as they relied on each other a lot and competed often as they grew up. Despite her brother having 5 years on her, Elysia proved a worthy match thanks to her creative and unorthodox ideas. Despite their competition, (Eldest) cared for Elysia above all else, even if he had to clean up her various fires and drag her out of trouble she would find herself in.
Eventually, the family would grow, with many more siblings and mouths to feed, Elysia would dedicate more of her time to providing for her family in any way she could. She hunted on her own, took up fishing and farming with her father, and weaving with her mother. All so they could stay together and enjoy their quiet lives. Sure there were times when Elysia would sneak off to explore the woods and see what lies beyond the edges of their realm, or share a drink with the sailors that came to port, absorbing every tale they had, dreaming of a day when she could see all the amazing things they have. But for now, she had to return home, to aid her family as that is where she was needed.
Turmoil
Elysia, now 16, enjoyed her days dashing through the woods, hunting her prey with deadly precision. She had taken up a spear that her father had carved for her last birthday, wielding it with great agility and dexterity. Elysia had become strong, and a pillar of the family, and while heavy of a responsibility, she never faltered to support her family. Day after day she would work alongside her parents and elder brother to take care of her younger siblings and make it to the next day. Though while she did her work with love in her heart, she knew that she was missing something, something grand and beyond anything that could be found within the borders of this old village.

News had spread from neighboring villages that an illness had been sweeping its way from town to town. Fear had started to cage the minds of the people, leaving few to want to venture into those hotspots and learn more. Elysia’s Village could do little should an illness sweep through as there was only one healer of the town, and was barely equipped to deal with day to day operations. Sadly, if that wasn’t the case, the disease that would envelop the town would have still been far more catastrophic for any poor community to handle.
At first, all the members of the Urabe household were able to assist with caring for their neighbors, they did what they could whether gathering herbs, delivering needed goods, or crafting medicine, all to keep people alive. For a time, this worked, none had perished though were left wilted and bed ridden with terrible symptoms. This was only the beginning as the days went on, members of Elysia’s family would begin to fall Ill. Her grandparents and younger siblings first, their health rapidly declined leading to their ability to work diminished. Her father and mother had no choice but to shift their focus inwards and forsake their duties to their community, though none could blame them as things were already hanging on by a thread.
Elysia tried to pick up the slack for her family, but each day that passed, her body's desire to collapse grew. Her legs ached from the running, her fingers were worn down, and her head spun with all responsibility to keep the family going. Her brother would try to stop her and make her rest, but Elysia would have no part of that. If she stopped for a second, wouldn’t everything fall apart?
Twlight
The father and head of the household had fallen ill. His exhaustion only made him more susceptible to the disease at this point. Elysia’s mother did what she could to comfort her children and other half but she also grew weary of it all as the days passed. . .
The day had only started, when a young aura male banged on the door. After Elysia’s mother allowed him in, he quickly asked to speak to her husband and her privately. Elysia only arrived back at the house upon the man’s departure, he had a frightened look upon his face. Her mother and father alongside her elder brother remained in the room, all talking frantically in hushed tones. Upon seeing Elysia, their eyes told her that there was something wrong. Before anyone could speak, the Elder brother told Elysia that the courier had said there was a small chance that a cure could be found in a neighboring village to the south past the borders of their nation. And so the Elder Brother and her mother set Elysia up quickly with what she would need to make the multi-day journey to the neighboring village. Elysia having no reason distrust her family and clung to the hope of curing her village from this pandemic, set out from the southern gate, across the hills and through the forest.
A day and half passed, Elysia had made it to the Southern village, but upon reaching the border of the village. All there was to gaze upon was charred wood and soot. Not a single building stood, only ruins. Elysia walked cautiously through the ruins hoping that there was at least one soul left alive to explain what had happened here. But there near what was once an alleyway, a body laid, slain by numerous assailants all of whom also laid dead nearby. The body was a soldier, a Garlean soldier. Immediately the gears started locking into place, numerous thoughts began flooding Elysia’s mind, all of which led back to her home. . .
Tragedy

Upon reaching the woodland edge, she could see smoke rising from where her village lay!! Elysia ran with all her might, her legs screaming in pain as they had just sprinted without rest for the whole way back. The heat started bracing against her with each step she got closer to the edge of the village. Fire and screaming filled every corner of the village. She ran and ran, dodging through alleys, filled with debris, trying to make it home. Bodies laid in every corner, some of the neighbors she once knew, others, charred and far beyond recognizable. Even if she could bring herself to cry, they would evaporate instantly with the heat raging around her.
Around the corner her home laid, the flames had only just now started encircling this area. Though the door was already smashed in, Elysia entered hesitantly, knowing not what she'd find within. There, on the ground, against the wall, and smashed into the table she once dined at, her siblings and family laid. Dead. Slaughtered by these Garlean bastards. Elysia felt numb, her body shook, and tears rushed down her face. She silently called out in her despair to each one of her siblings and parents, hoping one would answer. Nothing could be heard but the crackling of flames.
“Eh? Looks like we were right to return here” A voice appeared behind Elysia. “You’re a bit too late I’d say dear.”
Elysia turned around, and through her tears she saw multiple Garlean soldiers staring down at her through the door frame. Before the shock could wear off, one raised his weapon and aimed right for Elysia.
Within a second, Elysia whipped up and lunged straight towards her assailant, plunging her lance through his chest. Thankfully this stunned the others, giving Elysia time to orientate herself. She would have to mourn later, all she could do now was survive.
“G-get that bitch! Kill her!” Screamed one of the soldiers “Do Not let her escape!”
The Garleans moved to take Elysia down, but Elysia had become skilled with her lance and moving swiftly to hunt her prey. Would this be any different? She dashed behind and around her attackers, with every shot and slice missing by inches. Normally she'd be dodging effortlessly, but now, after not stopping sprinting, her body began to fail her. As she went to take down another soldier, her eyes blurred and legs stopped responding, causing her to miss and fall to the ground.
“Finally tired yourself out huh? Quite annoying you've been!” Growled a Garlean digging his heel into Elysia’s head, “and Still you managed to kill a number of my men! If this place wasn't about to burn, we’d let you truly have it, but no time now!”
The soldier buried the barrel of his weapon into Elysia’s temple, seconds within pulling the trigger. As fate would have it, a spear came flying in, plunging its way through the soldiers neck. Everyone turned to see where the spear had flown from. Elysia, even manage to lift her way to her knees to search as well
“Dear sister, even now I find you in a dire situation. I suppose my job shall never change…” The voice became recognizable instantly, it was her brother. Had she in her grief failed to spot his missing body? “Elysia can you stand?”
Elysia pulled herself to her feet, only to be met with a dreadful sight. Her dear eldest brother, covered in burns and charred all over. If he bled then it would have dried by the flames that had engulfed him. Was this truly her gentle brother? If so, how does he still stand?
“Brother… “ Before Elysia could say anymore, a Soldier broke the silence and went to strike Elysia down. The Elder Brother dashed towards them, grabbing the soldier by the throat, and cracking it within a second.
“Elysia, I'm sorry. You must run, gather your remaining strength, there is nothing left here” The Elder Brother yelled while turning his attention towards the remaining soldiers, who now remained enraged but hesitant to strike first. “I will hold them off till the flames take us all. But you, you must live! For our village, for our family, and for me! Now RUN!”
Elysia stumbled to her feet, slowly backing up, her body was not listening to her brother, even as she tried to will it to stay. Was there truly nothing here left for her? The soldiers rallied and began their advance towards the pair. Elysia knew she stood no chance, and if her brother had any left, she'd only slow him. She turned and ran towards the treeline.
The elder brother smiled with the face he had left, and proceeded to turn his attention towards the Garleans. With one deep breath, he grabbed his lance and readied for his last act as the eldest. Elysia could only hear screaming and sounds of gunfire as she made it to the treeline. To where now, she didn't have the luxury to think. All she could do was remember her brother’s words and live.
